There is so many ways to eat bannock , P&J is my families favorite , bologna coming in a close second.
There is also Indian Tacos, I will have to save that for another post!
So I have been meaning to learn how to make Bannock, we are always calling up to Mooshum’s ( Grandfathers) to get them to make us some. When I ask the family for the recipe no one knows they just eye everything.
I found one online and decided to try it out , and it worked.
Bannock Recipe
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups of flour
6 tsp of baking power
1/3 lard or oil ( I like lard)
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup water ( I use cold water)
Directions
Preheat oven at 400 F
Mix all the dry ingredients together, cup in the lard and mix so you have little balls. Make a well in middle of dry ingredients and add in your water. Mix well together, sprinkle a little flour on counter top and kneed dough . Don’t kneed to much maybe like 1 minute. Next you want to pat down , you don’t want it totally flat . Mine was a oval shape and about 1/2 inch thick. Poke it with a fork , place on a greased cookie sheet . I cooked mine for 28 minutes!
Enjoy !
