Night Owl , thats what I have !
The Basket | Lisa | September 22, 2009 at 11:02 amHere I sit at 4:53 am watching Dora cause my little girl’s sleep patterns are a mess. Way back when it has been so long since she slept on a schedule, she would get up about 7:30 – 8:00 am , have a hour nap about 1 or 2 pm. Then be back to bed about 9.
Now I’m lucky if she will nap, if she doesn’t nap by 4 at the latest I don’t allow her to nap. I keep her busy , have supper , bath and then usually by 8:30 or 9 I can’t deal with her cause she is so tired!
Now about 50% of the time she will sleep through the night , other times she is up by 11 and stays awake all night ! Today she didn’t nap and she was pretty good tonight she wasn’t overly grumpy at all! She had supper , played a little , gave her a bath and she was out by about 9 pm. She woke up at 12:30 , I tired to get her to go back down , but she was having nothing to do with it ! So for the last 4 and half hours I have been sitting here fighting my eyes , watching Blues Clues, Dora , Barney.
I have tried everything to try and get to go back to bed, rocking her, rubbing her back, letting her cry , laying her down in the dark! Nothing works , I have no idea what to do to get her back on a schedule , it really messes me up to when I don’t get at least 7 hours of sleep! As of right now I will be lucky if I get 2 hours !
If you have any suggestions please let me know !

Sounds like my daughter. We at once was on a great sleep schedule. But I home school so we don’t need to be up by 6am. We are usually going to bed about then. My husband is a 3rd shifter so we get to see daddy more this way.
I would die…thank GOD i have been lucky all my kids are sleepers and have been since we brought them home..lol
OH my! I would die! I was going to give you the exact advice that Stephanie did. It’s great advice! Try a routine and stick to it!! No matte what. Do not let her out of her room at night. It is bed time and it’s not for negotiating. It will be tough for a while, but she’ll get it. Good luck1
Ive heard that diet can mess with their sleep big time. I hope you can get this figured out soon.

My old bosses daughter was the same way. Up all night. I don’t remember what he did but I know it was a process they had to work through until she had her days/nights back in sync again.
Good Luck
Omg I ave been there still do it from time to time since jada has started pre-k she is sleeping better but before that we was up all night!!
Oh, I am so sorry. That would suck. Right now my little one is okay. But I’m sure at any moment that will change!
oh man, i get a ton of naptime in. CHarlotte is still a 3 hour napper!!!
Yes, she is 4. I know, i love it.

We have tons of sleep issues here too. I need a support group. Someone to share watching the kids while the other person gets some sleep.
Honey all I can tell you is to keep her up one day…ALL day and then start a new routine (dinner, bath, book, prayers, if you say them, and bed) then in the morning when she wakes up at a normal time make THE biggest deal EVER about it and let her have a special surprise (i.e. new book, new nightlight, etc.). Kids love to please (yes, stop shaking your head….they do..most of the time) and making her feel like a big girl will entice her to try harder to be ‘big’. Good luck babe! I know it sucks. If that doesn’t work (and nothing else does either) then I would suggest either talking to her dr or taking her to a sleep specialist. ((hugs))
*GO TO SLEEP OLIVIA!*
I totally feel you! My son has nights like that as well. My first two will sleep forever if I let them. However, my third one doesn’t need sleep like mommy does.
oh Honey , you have it worse then me knowing you have younger ones to chase! I just have this little night owl! We need to figure out ways to get them to sleep all night !
